Inside the Mosquito Net–Part II March 2011

The Bangladesh adventure continues… Getting ready for departure, testing out the Skeeter Defeater mosquite net–with a new addition inside the net…Ella Maribel–my 4 month old granddaughter .  And I have an adorable new 3  mo old puppy, Mr. Cooper.   

I leave March 1, 2011 with a team of dedicated health care professionals to continue in our journey to assist Professor Rabiul Husain and his staff in developing Imperial Hospital Limited (IHL) and Imperial College of Nursing (ICN).  Our objectives this time are to gain a deeper understanding of inpatient and outpatient (or indoor services and outdoor services as it is referred to there)  hospital operations  as they exist now in the region so that we can help them develop plans for a western standard level of care tertiary hospital in Chittagong.

We hope to visit hospitals in Bangkok, Thailand, Dhaka, Bangladesh and of course Chittagong, Bangladesh.  I will miss everyone at home, but we all have almost a year of Skyping  under our belts (sometimes from one room in the house to another) , so staying in touch will not be hard!

Since I feel that when I got sick in Chittagong last time, Pringles (of course in addition to my colleagues and friends and green coconut water) saved my life, I am traveling with a hefty supply of them,along with peanut buttered crackers!  Hopefully I will save much of that for the flight home, which if anything like the last trip, was when I really craved comfort snacks!

Other than that, it’s kind of the same drill:  same suitcase, same clothes, same emergency supplies and of course, the same mosquito net!!  Next entry will probably be from Bangkok!
