Its been awhile…

Tomorrow, I leave for a working trip to Southeast Asia,  Vietnam specifically.  I am lucky to be once again travelling with Dr. Martha Tanicala, nursing professor extraordinaire and my BFF.  We travel from Detroit to Seoul, and then on to HCMC (Saigon).  We will be joining others from Global Health Services Network who arrived earlier in Vietnam.  Our task is to determine how GHSN might best help nursing education in Vietnam.  Additionally, we will be giving a workshop to staff and leadership of a maternity hospital about trends in healthcare and nursing education.  stay tuned.  The adventure is about to begin …

The mosquito net arrives!

Isn’t it amazing how you see something online, order it and 2 days later it is in your living room.  So, the skeeter-defeater comes FedEx, and is in a nylon bag just about umbrella size.  So far so good.

I pulled the contents out of the bag and there is one meshy-thingy and a bazillion fiberglass 12 inch rods.  Wondering how it will ever get back into that little bag.  Spent an hour with it on living room floor with no help from husband (“this one is yours to figure out” says he).  Leave it overnight in the middle of everything, certain that morning will be bring clarity re:  the assembly.  Oh, and I forgot to mention, the instructions are one postcard size little sheet of paper with a drawing and some words–none of which worked for me.

Sunday morning now and I’m sitting on the floor again with the meshy-thingy and all the rods.  Still no clarity.  Leave it again.

Aha!  Son Christopher arrives and amidst many groans he and I figure it out together!

Ta Da!!  Thanks Christopher you are the best!

Skeeter Defeater

We’ll leave the disassembly for another post!

The Luggage Story

Upon return from the Costa Rica Trip (march 2010–vacation!), the big red suitcase got damaged.  Delta came through after a couple trips to the airport and MANY phone calls to Atlanta, and the suitcase arrived home today–looking like new and all set for the Bangladesh trip!

Bangladesh Bound

It’s never certain until you are on the plane, but it looks like I am Bangladesh Bound!  I will be traveling with two EMU professors and colleagues and I plan/hope to use this blog as a journal for myself and others to track this adventure.
